Hi there, I’m Alex Loddengaard. I live in San Francisco and I’m working on a small startup called MemCachier. As far as software goes, I would consider myself a specialist in big data and general scalability. But I’m more of a generalist, having worked with Hadoop, Rails, Django, Android and Hadoop.
Before MemCachier I worked in product marketing at Atlassian. Prior to Atlassian I was a software engineer, support engineer, consultant, and trainer at Cloudera, spending all my time on Hadoop. And before Cloudera I was at Google and Redfin as an intern.
I’ve built a number of personal projects and consulted a little as well. Here is some of my work:
I spend a lot of time on my bike, except during the winter when I’m on my snowboard or snowmobile. One day I’ll be able to do the splits on my yoga mat. I like Python and Ruby; I’m still recovering from Java. I’m a University of Washington Computer Engineering alum. And what really gets me going is seeing the software I make used by others. One day I’ll make something that will make people happier, which is really my ultimate dream.
