The Silicon Valley Dream: Change the World

People from all over the world travel to Silicon Valley to create and innovate, pursuing dreams and challenging oneself to make a difference.  I believe rooted beneath these dreams is a desperate desire to truly change the world.  So often silicon valley entrepreneurs are concerned about getting rich or increasing their Twitter followers.  But look beyond those material desires and see what Silicon Valley dreams are really made of.  We’re all here to change the world, to make all of our lives better with technology, new business, and new opportunity.

Build useful products with heart and passion.  Solve customer problems in meaningful and sustainable ways.  Be kind to your kin, multiplying and rallying everyone around you to realize and pursue the same passion and vision.  With challenges and product successes come fame and fortune.  And when you’re famous and rich, I’ll bet you’ll dream of the next way to change the world, not the next pile of stock you’ll start vesting.  Innovating and making a difference are powerful, sustainably happy dreams, much more so than money and Twitter followers.  Remember why you’re in Silicon Valley, why we’re all here, working late, working weekends, thinking of new ideas, financing those ideas, and implementing them.

The Silicon Valley dream is to change the world.
